Moon Milk Recipe
When you were younger, do you remember hearing to drink a cup of warm milk before you go to bed to help with sleeping?
Turns out, this was actually a really great tip! Drinking heated creamy beverages before bed has been practiced for centuries and has helped people drift off into a restful sleep. Moon milk is a great way to help us get in a more relaxed and balanced state before heading to bed.
This golden moon milk recipe is great to try out when you’re having a night of tossing and turning. I’ve also started incorporating this recipe into my nighttime ritual the night of the full moon to make sure my mind is calm and ready for whatever insight the moon may give me. I make this recipe with turmeric, which has a host of health benefits, and ashwagandha, a stress-fighting herb which is known to promote sleep.
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp ashwagandha powder
1 tsp coconut oil
1 pinch of cardamom powder
1/2 cup of coconut milk
1/2 cup of rice milk
Heat together and blitz until frothy. Sprinkle with cinnamon and add honey or syrup for taste.
