With incredibly heavy hearts, we share the sorrowful news of the passing of one of our founders, Courtney Perry.
This is a loss we can hardly put into words, and the pain we feel right now is unimaginable. Courtney was not just a founder—she was the heartbeat of Wicked Obscura, a force of nature whose light touched everyone she met.
Courtney was, in every sense, a living example of what it means to be bright, kind, and full of life. Her spirit was adventurous, brave, vibrant, and unfaltering. She was everything you could hope for in a friend—generous, understanding, and fiercely loyal. Her creativity knew no bounds, crafting stories that transported us to magical realms and filled with characters we all fell in love with. But what made Courtney truly special wasn’t just her talent; it was who she was as a person.

She had an endless capacity for giving. Whether it was helping out animal shelters, supporting local nonprofits, or giving her time and heart to those who needed it most—Courtney always gave, always cared. No matter what was going on in her own life, if you needed her, she was there. Her kindness and generosity didn’t stop with those she knew—meeting Courtney made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. She had that way about her.
Her laughter was a gift, a sound that could lift anyone’s spirits and brighten the darkest days. You could feel her light in everything she did, and in every room she entered, she made it a little brighter. Her spirit infused everything we created together at Wicked Obscura, and her vision will continue to guide us.
We are struggling to find the right words to express the depth of our grief. This is just a fraction of who Courtney was—so much of her brilliance, kindness, and magic can never be fully captured in writing. In the coming days, as the fog of grief starts to clear, we know more will come to mind, more memories and stories we want to share. But for now, we hold on to what we know: Courtney was one of a kind, and she will forever be missed.
As we continue to honor her, we raise our wands and keep shining the way she did. Let her example guide us—live brightly, love fiercely, and be kind. Courtney, we will carry your light with us always, and we’ll never stop cherishing you. Continuing Courtney’s Legacy
As we honor Courtney's beautiful spirit, we want to share that moving forward, 15% of each Mystic Drifter candle purchase will be donated to the Purrfect Day Café in her name. This was a place that Courtney loved deeply and where she spent countless hours volunteering, helping animals and people alike.
